Cutest Baby Shower Guest Gift....

We attended the cutest 'high tea' themed baby shower the other week! It was such a lovely afternoon, made all the more special as it was a family member (so so excited!!!). The lovely ladies that organised it did a beautiful job, with homemade goodies to eat and drink everywhere you looked! Fresh flowers decorated all the tables too! It was simply lovely!

Then we got another surprise as we were leaving....

How cute are these! Teeny tiny glass jars, full of seeds! Pink and blue poppy seeds! What a fantastic idea! The kids came home and planted them straight away! They cannot wait to see if they have 'boy or girl' flowers! I can't wait to find out if its a boy or girl baby!!!

  1. I'll have to plant mine! A question, do you have a compost bin? I have 6 chooks now and I want to use their manure on the garden. I read that chook manure is too high in nitrogen to put directly onto plants, and it is best not to leave the manure out in the open because it will lose the nitrogen in the atmoshpere. What do you do, do you compost it first? It is mixed with straw at the moment.

    1. Hello! Yes we do have a compost bin. We never put chook poo straight onto the garden (no matter how dirt like it looks when you clean out your chicken run!) as its too HOT and will burn your plants and damage your soil.
We put ours into our compost bin, along with old newspapers, banana skins (they attract worms), grass clippings, young branches trimmed off our fruit trees and anything the chickens cannot eat (onions, potato peel). We tend to leave any chook poo for 3 months before planting into it. We recently put in new raised garden beds and one we've filled with a layer of dirt, then chook poo, then old grass clippings, straw and more good quality top soil.
      Hope that has helped!
